The government plans to cut the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance for people in residential care homes. This could mean they can no longer afford to get out into their communities.
Time is running out for the government to change its mind. Please join in the Mencap campaign writing to Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Iain Duncan Smith.
Remember to also sign the petition to stop DLA reform.
Non-partisan UK-based Disability campaign. Advocacy for people with invisible illness and/or physical & mental health conditions. Also Carers, their Families and Friends. Our individual voices are too quiet to be heard, but collectively we can shout loud enough to drown out this tide of abuse against us. Disability Hate Crime, lack of full legal protection, people in care homes costing too much to be let out and not one political party willing to fight for us.

The effort with OMBH has been outstanding. There are a load of new signatures on the petition and while I'm sure the whole blogswarm is proving to be absolutely exhausting, it seems to be raising a massive amount of awareness. I got blog hits from New Zealand and Ecuador yesterday!
